To the “Special” Parents…

To the “special” parents trying to keep it together because you don’t have time to fall apart…
To the parents on the phone arguing with insurance companies and doctors offices…
To the parents with schedules and to-do lists a mile long…
To the parents dealing with meltdowns left and right, and days on end of the same crying, whining, and screaming ALL. DAY. LONG…
To the parents that haven’t slept in, well, who even knows how long…
To the parents trying to be EVERYTHING to their special needs/medically complex child while trying to be there for their “normal” children too…
To the parents trying to juggle working full-time and family life…
To the parents having the umpteenth worst day ever…
To the parents feeling overwhelmed, stressed to the max, and defeated…
To the parents full of anxiety, worry, and guilt…
To the parents wishing for just one moment of adult time…
To the parents feeling like this crappy moment will never end…
To the “special” parents who are struggling…I see YOU. I hear YOU. I feel YOU. I AM YOU! The truth is, we have so much to be thankful for, even with all the bad. Every accomplishment is a huge victory. Every milestone hit is well worth the wait. The children we do this for EVERY DAMN DAY are worth every bit of it.
Look in those eyes of that special person. Remember why you do it all, and why you keep going. Know that you are NOT alone. Most importantly, I want you to remember WE (as in you, me, and every other parent in our shoes) got this. One more time, for those of you not believing it, WE GOT THIS!
DON’T FORGET!
