Using Hydrogen Peroxide as a Household Cleaner

As most of us know, hydrogen peroxide can kill most bacteria. Did you know it also kills viruses? The ability to kill bacteria and viruses means using hydrogen peroxide as a household cleaner may be a good idea.
Keeping your home clean and surfaces disinfected is important. This is especially true when you have a kiddo with a suppressed immune system as I do. I also, personally, prefer the path of fewer chemicals when at all possible. For that reason, I like using hydrogen peroxide to disinfect my home.
Through studies, peroxide has been proven to kill harmful viruses. Influenza, coronavirus, and rhinovirus are a few viruses known to die when in contact with peroxide. One study showed that just .5% of peroxide was enough to kill coronavirus. Keep in mind that most hydrogen peroxide sold in stores has a 3% concentration. Higher concentrations have more germ fighting power according to the CDC.
How to use peroxide as a household cleaner
Peroxide is a fuss free cleaner. All I ever do is remove the cap and screw a spray nozzle directly onto the peroxide bottle. For an extra boost of freshness and cleaning power, essential oils can be added. I like to add Plant Therapy’s Germ Fighter to my peroxide household cleaner.
All you gotta do is spray the peroxide directly onto any surface. Let the peroxide sit for a few minutes before wiping it off with a rag. I even use peroxide on fabrics to disinfect them. Peroxide is known to be a color safe bleach alternative, but it is still a good idea to test on a small hidden piece of fabric, or surface, before going crazy with it.
For extra germ fighting, wipe peroxide cleaned surfaces with distilled white vinegar. Vinegar also has germ fighting capabilities.
